When it comes to PED 2014/68/EU directives interpretation, there is more to consider than only referring to the specified size “greater than DN32” in the regulations. It’s not simply the size range, one must also consider the certification range. Terofox valves now are certified to ANNEX III/Cat.III, module H which deals with PIPING, working with Table 6, 7, 8 mostly (less in table 9 aiming for DN200 size and above). What is the difference between Trunnion mounted ball valves and floating ball valves?

The key difference between a floating ball valve and a trunnion mounted ball valve is how each achieves a line seal. Trunnion mounted ball valves are uses a spring mechanism and/or line pressure assistance to drive the upstream seat against the stationary ball. The surface area exposed to the pressure through the relatively small passageway is actually just the back of the seat. The floating ball valve utilize natural line pressure to press and seal the ball against the downstream seat. The line pressure is exposed to a greater surface area - the entire upstream face of the ball, which is an area equal to the actual pipe size.

Its function can be stopping or starting the flow, controlling flow rate, diverting flow, preventing back flow, controlling pressure, or relieving pressure. • Quarter-turn valve (rotary valve): The closure member as well its shaft turn 0º-90º; from the fully-open position to the fully-closed position. They are quick opening/closure valves. Three-way and four-way ball valves

Three-way ball valves have an L- or T-shaped hole through the middle. The different combinations of flow are shown Terofox website. It is easy to see that a T valve can connect any pair of ports, or all three, together, but the 45 degree position which might disconnect all three leaves no margin for error. The L valve can connect the center port to either side port, or disconnect all three, but it cannot connect the side ports together. Multi-port ball valves with 4 ways, or more, are also commercially available, the inlet way often being orthogonal to the plane of the outlets. For special applications, such as driving air-powered motors from forward to reverse, the operation is performed by rotating a single lever four-way valve.
